Music-11- Linkin Park

★”Meteora” is the first Linkin Park album I heard.

-Their heavy sound is drastically different from the rock or metal music I’d listened to before.-

I remember feeling like I’d been knocked out, or taken by surprise. Their heavy sound is drastically different from the rock or metal music I’d listened to before. Being heavy, yet not having the style of traditional rock or metal music;with Chester’s shouting voice and Mike’s low rap voice. While they play the band’s sound basically, they also mix in an effective keyboard sound and sometimes use the unconventional sound of . The melodies are so easy to listen to that we soon find ourselves humming them. All of the elements are united as one. With no contradictions, it is simply beautiful.

-I also like the CD jacket of Meteora that contains their strong message: art.-

I feel each song on this album relays a message, and all of those somehow end up on the jacket photo. I don’t know if they intended it that way or not.

★Especially I think the song “Figure.09” is iconic of them.

-This is a really new, Linkin Park style.-

As soon as it starts with the keyboard, then the distorted metal guitar sound comes in, and then rap! This is a really new, Linkin Park style. I get a totally new feeling, like this transcends music genres and ushers in a new era of song creation!

★“Breaking the Habit”, Chester Bennington’s voice is amazing.

My favorite song from this album is “Breaking the Habit”. You probably know it from its animated music video, as it’s quite well known. Chester Bennington’s voice is amazing. It makes us feel the sad, difficult or painful experiences and stories behind each song.

★“Hybrid Theory”, I’d never have thought it was really their first album.

-It’s amazing and a miracle. Especially “One Step Closer” is impressive.-

Now I’ll go back to their debut album “Hybrid Theory”. I’d never have thought it was really their first album, it’s way too awesome. It’s amazing and a miracle. Especially “One Step Closer” is impressive. I can feel the sense of being driven into a corner of room and the heartache coming from it. Listening to his hard, shouting voice, I feel like being struck by a blow from a sword, and that’s because of his young, keen sense. Though it’s such a painful song for us, it’s OK since it’s only three minutes!

★The last  “Castle of Glass” for me, I never, ever expected his end would come so soon.

-I remember I was so happy as a vocalist who could exist in the same moment with him.-

To tell the truth, I rarely go to concerts and music festivals. I guess I mean to say that I’m not good at making noise with other people. As I don’t like crowded places, only once have I been to a summer music festival, and that was to listen to Chester’s voice. Before their concert began, there was already a huge audience there in spite of the early timetable. I was so lucky as they played the song “Castle of Glass”, which I liked so much at that time. As soon as they started to play, I was so moved I almost cried. I sang the same part with him. I remember I was so happy as a vocalist who could exist in the same moment with him. I never knew it would be my last chance to listen to his natural voice. I never, ever expected his end would come so soon.
