★“Countdown to Extinction” and “Youthanasia”,in Megadeth’s golden era, I guess.
The albums “Countdown to Extinction” and “Youthanasia”, I listened to them soooo many times. If I'd been listening to them on cassette tapes (which I think few young people even know about these days!) the tapes would have deteriorated badly because I replayed them so much! Anyway, these albums are the ones that were released in Megadeth’s golden era, I guess.
I guess once you listen to the intro of “Countdown to Extinction”, you’ll notice this song is very Megadeth, because it has its own unique atmosphere. I especially like the guitar riffs of the chorus part. The color I imagine their sound being is a deep blue, like indigo or ultramarine. If you can’t understand what I mean, I’m sorry, I’ll try to use other, better words...
★Dave Mustaine's voice
I think Dave Mustaine has a bright and clear voice for heavy metal, in a good way, I like such a gentle voice. Maybe it depends on the method of recording or mastering, but I feel his voice doesn’t attack us. I guess he’s really a kind and gentle person. I really feel that each persons’ voice represents them self.
★The guitarist Marty Friedman
Marty Friedman played guitar on these two albums. Now he is famous as a musician on TV programs in Japan. On the shows he is a really nice and friendly guy with gentle eyes, but on the other hand he actually plays the guitar with very evil sounds, the kind you might hear at a demon exorcism! I’m really attracted to this juxtaposition . After I listened to lots of Megadeth songs that were melodic and easy-listening, I came to like heavy metal music more and more.
